{so we may or may not have traded in our jetta sportwagen for an early lease return this afternoon. a new golf sportwagen is sitting in our driveway. we always end up getting new cars without meaning to!}

{white collar. on Netflix. we are addicted. in the middle of season five!}

we had a really fun weekend that was unexpectedly full of family & friends. lots of catching up which is always fun! it is hard to believe it is the middle of august, especially since we have had such cooler weather these past few days (isn’t this supposed to be the hot part of summer?!) but time is flying by! we didn’t get a lot done off of the old to-do list, but did get to a few big things which feels great. how was your weekend?

{snuck in a pure barre class this afternoon & it felt great to be back after an accidental 3 week hiatus. but ouch, tuesday is gonna hurt!}

{we saw the new mission: impossible rogue nation, per aaron’s request, & it was really good!}

we had a really fun weekend with grammie in town & then, of course, celebrating eloise’s big day! I can’t even believe that she is going to be one year old tomorrow – it is so bittersweet. we are continuing the birthday celebrations into this next week which will be fun. & I am going to keep up the party decorations for a while but promise to share as soon as I have all of the pictures from our photographer (i.e. my brother in law)! I apologize for the lack of photos, but I really am trying to be present with eloise since time is just flying! I love documenting life with a camera, but feel like I am trying to find a new balance.

we were in idaho all last week so I thought I would share pictures from our trip, including our weekend!

{eloise eating with a spoon & fork. she is doing pretty well, but mostly wants to either chew on the utensils or take the food off of the fork & eat it with her fingers.}

{eloise enjoyed her first trip to the beach by eating some sand. she seemed to enjoy it!}

{we ended our day trip to mccall with some lunch at the local microbrewery. eloise snacked on some red onion. she must get that from her papa.}

{my oldest sister keri got married on saturday night. my oldest nephew gunnar walked her down the aisle. such a beautiful bride. congrats to the happy couple!}

{the night sky is amazing in cascade since there is hardly any light pollution. such a pretty moon on saturday night!}

{we drove north from cascade up to lewiston & then cut west to washington – a new route for us. the country was really beautiful!}

{we stopped in colfax, wa to get our wiggles out!}

{the last leg of our very long roadtrip was crossing over the columbia river at the gorge. so, so beautiful!}

we had such a fun & busy week hanging out with my family & celebrating my sister’s wedding. but, it is always so good to be home. now it is lots of laundry, a big trip to the grocery store, & settling back in for a busy rest of the summer. how was your weekend?

{yep, this is super fun. take all of the wipes out of the container.}

{we got this new playmat for eloise from the nordstrom anniversary sale. maybe it will mean less head bonks on the hardwood floors as eloise learns to stand & walk.}

{now that eloise has learned to stand against this gate, she isn’t always sure she likes to be on the other side.}

{finally found a quiet moment to enjoy a face mask from an old birchbox. luxurious!}

{we stopped for lunch in yakima, WA & had a family picnic. it was the best thing ever.}

{being huge Serial lovers, we wanted to give this follow-up podcast a try. between road noise & a sleeping baby, we didn’t get thru much, but are still intrigued.}

{eloise is loving all of grammie’s cookbooks that she can pull out & read.}

{my parents’ dog lily is very sick & we have been enjoying lots of extra snuggles from this sweet girl.}

{sadie decided to take herself for a swim in the creek this afternoon. I guess she needed a bath anyways…}

{after saying “good morning” to her papa, eloise discovered how fun the roman shade is in our room.}

{eloise is so good about having to wear sunscreen & mostly doesn’t wiggle too much. the face stick helps!}

{another mama friend found these cool trays that suction right to the table, & despite me not loving the separated sections (I would prefer just one big bowl or plate), it works pretty well. it is nice to have the ability for eloise to be right at the table in her highchair (without the tray).}

{I have been eyeing this dress at ann taylor for a while now & was pleasantly surprised to find it 60% off this weekend (& it still is!).}

{we attended the sweeney’s for a bbq & it ended up being a bit of a high school reunion as a friend from out of town was visiting. I haven’t seen danny (right) since high school! I have known these guys since middle school & it was SO fun to catch up all together!}

{this mallet is her favorite toy of late. & she loves to bang it on the wood tables… a future judge?}

{our new fridge has an ice-maker (!) but we needed a water line from the sink. luckily this guy was able to make that happen. thanks babe!}

{date night called for dressing up. I have had this skirt for a while, but no occasion to wear it until now. I am not a fan of “fast fashion” but this is an exception – the print is gorgeous & it has such great shape!}

{wicked is in town & part of our season theater tickets. neither of us had seen it before – or even knew the story – & really enjoyed it. what a great show! thanks to ben & sarah for watching eloise.}

this weekend was the first in a while that didn’t seem to fly by so quickly. I think it is because we got a reprieve in the weather (overcast, lower temps) & it was glorious! I love the hot weather, but needed a break for a bit… sun, you can come back anytime! we had lots of quality time the three of us & also got to see family & friends – nothing better!

{eloise has been loving whole plums these days!}

{we had to say good-bye to our old fridge on friday. a few weeks ago the freezer stopped working, & then last week the fridge stopped. so we were thankful to have our chest freezer & used the freezer as a fridge for a few days.}

{on friday, aaron & the neighbor tore down & rebuilt two of the fences in our yard, including the one between our houses. there was lots of overgrowth of plants on that old fence!}

{eloise & me. I knew our eyes were similar, but seriously, the exact same eyes!}

{yay USA women’s soccer team! we joined the millions of other “fans” that watch women’s soccer once a year…}

it was a fun long weekend, but so, so hot! usually the fourth of july is cold & rainy, & marks the official start of summer in seattle, but we’ve been having hot weather (about 10 or 20 degrees hotter than normal) & coming out of the hottest june on record! needless to say, our A/C is working over-time. aaron was busy outside working on the fence & in the yard all weekend, so eloise & I hung out, & tried to stay cool. it was nice having him home though & around, even if we just saw him at mealtime! the fence is 99% done & I will share pictures soon! we didn’t have big fourth of july plans & didn’t even see any fireworks (we went to bed pretty early) but we grilled brats, corn, & s’mores. god bless america!

{yes 90 degrees on our main floor. that’s the temperature inside the house. in other news, we have ordered an A/C unit for our living room!}

{we went to lowe’s on saturday afternoon & eloise was a bit overwhelmed by all of the things to see. we partly went because we had some things to pick up & return, but partly because it has A/C!}

{eloise had her first green smoothie this morning & liked to wear it like war paint.}

{I didn’t get to pure barre this afternoon – I needed the workout but it is WAY too hot to workout! – but I did get to work on a sewing project!}

{last box of girl scout cookies that I rummaged out of the bottom of the freezer. they are delicious! but refer to my last comment…}

I had all sorts of things planned for the weekend & thought I would get so much done, but the heat just drained me. does anyone else feel super lethargic in the heat? also, my “springtime” allergies seem to have stuck around for the summer which really stinks when I can’t take any type of decongestant (because it effects milk supply) – boo. we took a lot of naps & are looking forward to a short week! (though, in actuality, I had no idea it was going to be a short week until I started reading everyone else’s updates…) how was your weekend?

{grammie & grandpa put up a swing at their house for eloise. she loved it if you can’t tell!}

{eloise was obsessed with this toy of henry’s. it played music, had lights & a mirror – the trifecta of baby toys!}

{being in town meant we got to catch up with all of my best girlfriends from my childhood. plus their spouses & babes. the best!}

{my favorite lunch – mongolian bbq – with the fam.}

{we took the opportunity to be in the pool every day since it was so hot in boise! plus, eloise looks so adorable in her bathing suit. & that terry robe cover-up? I can’t even stand it!}

{grammie got eloise some wooden blocks & she loved them! we would build towers for her to knock over like baby godzilla.}

{happy father’s day to our number one guy! I was reading eloise the book “dada” since we got it for aaron, but she kept saying “mama!”}

{eloise got to rock in her grammie’s tiny rocking chair. it was so sweet!}

{yum, einstein brothers bagels at the boise airport!}

{eloise was super interested in the safety information card on the airplane this afternoon. she took it, the snack menu, & the Alaska Airlines magazine out of the seat-back pocket about a zillion times.}

{& aaron enjoyed his late afternoon mustache coffee in-flight.}

(obviously) we were in boise this weekend & it was so much fun. my dad’s birthday was last week, so we were able to be together with my family for a whole lotta celebrating! it was also great to see some close friends & just hang out. grandparents mean you actually get some down time during the day & it is refreshing – thanks mom & dad! this first official weekend of summer was fantastic & we are looking forward to an amazing summer! how was your weekend?

{eloise & I hit the grocery store on friday to pick up dinner for friends. she LOVES the grocery store!}

{if eloise is sitting & playing, this pretty much sums it up: one toy (or mama’s necklace) in her mouth & one toy in each hand.}

{good naps on friday also meant I got to get some work in on a sewing project!}

{friday evening aaron did dinner & bedtime with eloise & I took dinner to my dear friends & got to meet their new daughter nora. just a month old & so teeny!}

{it is cherry season & the lowers are enjoying it!}

{on saturday afternoon the roosevelt high school marching band – who practices all spring around the neighborhood – did a dress rehearsal complete with uniforms & police escorts. the best part is the parent paparazzi that follows them down the street!}

{eloise was reviewing the stack of restoration hardware catalogs we just received & planned out some décor for the house.}

{we watched jazmyne on saturday while her parents were at a wedding. yep, jaz just turned seven & is basically the same size as eloise, but with longer arms & legs.}

{aaron & jaz played a few games of yahtzee.}

{aaron did bedtime with the girls & jaz read eloise a bedtime story. so sweet!}

{standing is eloise’s newest trick & favorite thing to do these days. she can also pull herself up to standing. we are in so much trouble…}

{we set up the pack n play for eloise so we could get some work done in the office. she seemed to like it at first, but about 15 minutes in she had a meltdown. we are starting with a bit of separation anxiety these days…}

yay for lazy weekends! it was sunny but not too hot & we were able to keep the house pretty cool – always a win. how was your weekend?
