{lately, eloise wants to have her sunglasses on & will keep them on for a few minutes. on Friday, she wanted them on while we were grocery shopping!}

{Lower family pumpkins 2015.}

{we had the Andersons over for Halloween & these little ones love each other.}

IMG_8957

{the start of our neighborhood’s annual Halloween parade, complete with the drumline from Roosevelt High School. have I ever said how much I love our neighborhood?}

IMG_8958

{our friends Elliott & Emily & their puppy Winnie – last seen here – also joined us for the Halloween festivities. Winnie was SO tired!}

IMG_8959

{no get-together is complete without Cards Against Humanity – the kids were asleep!}

IMG_8960

{on our way home from brunch this morning, Eloise’s entire cup of milk dumped into my diaper bag. I was literally pouring milk out of my wallet & the bottom of the bag… this was Aaron’s solution for a drying rack! Luckily, everything seems to have cleaned up well & I didn’t ruin the car key in a puddle of milk.}

IMG_8961

{seahawks at cowboys. tough game & it wasn’t pretty, but we won!}

IMG_8965

{we didn’t get any family pictures on either of our phones – it was wet & windy, but a total fail! – so this picture of Pebbles & Dino will have to do until I get pictures back from Aaron’s brother. we took this photo with us last weekend when we dressed up as Fred & Wilma.}

We had a soggy, but fun weekend celebrating Halloween & the last bit of October. We took a family walk this evening & there was such a chill in the air – winter is coming! (Game of Thrones reference, anyone?) It feels like we are super busy already & we are only the first day into November! Christmas is only 8 weeks away… so much to do! How was your weekend?

{we went to visit aaron at work on friday afternoon & stopped by a “break room” to explore.}

{I was putting the finishing touches on Eloise’s Halloween costume – Pebbles Flintstone!}

{Hunter boots
for toddlers!}

{I actually made this tassel & it is awesome!}

{it was game day on friday, & Eloise & Aaron were cheering on from afar!}

{performing our civic duty – don’t forget to vote!}

{I love this age. I was helping Aaron organize his shed in the new backyard & Eloise was up early from a nap & joined us! That vest, those boots, & look at that grass!}

{we left Eloise with a (non-family) babysitter – for the first time! – & headed to Ben & Sarah’s annual Halloween bash. It was so fun to see these costumes come to life after weeks of planning & sewing. We even made the walk-off for best costume!}

{the Halloween décor at the party is out-of-control!}

{one gal at the party was taking polaroids with the camera mounted to her helmet. I love this one of Fred & Wilma!}

{I came up this morning to find Aaron & Eloise enjoying some Sunday morning football.}

{I finally had time to start into a big sewing project – lengthening our living room curtains – which has been on the back burner forever. I am so excited about this!}

{since I had Halloween decorations out, I thought Eloise would like to play with one of the many pumpkin buckets we have acquired. she was practicing her trick-or-treating for saturday!}

we had such a fun weekend, celebrating Halloween a little early & really enjoying the fall weather. we got a good amount done around the house & got to sleep in (even though we got home SO late on saturday night!). fall in seattle is so fun & the weather has been pleasantly mild. but I still can’t believe we are quickly approaching the end of October – what?! how was your weekend?

{we had sod delivered & installed on friday. happy dance!}

{I have already started incorporating some ideas from the new Young House Love book! I needed an idea for all of eloise’s weekly pictures & this poster print from Social Print Studio is perfect! I am obsessed & so is eloise; every time we go by it she stops & points at all of the pictures!}

{our landscape designer dropped off a few new trees on saturday. in the pouring rain. that is aaron out there braving the weather too!}

{& inside it was also wet when eloise opened the plug on the bottom of her water toy! my first thought was that her diaper was leaking (!) but then I realized it was just water. phew!}

{packing for our trip coming up this week. it is going to be HOT!}

{happy second birthday to our good friend tahlia! she had a dinosaur birthday & eloise had a blast!}

{aaron & I spent the better part of the morning planting trees. plus, this is a sneak peek at our yard!}

{finished off the weekend with a PSL & a fresh mani – perfect!}

we had a great weekend, but boy it flew by! we were super social on saturday hosting a PEPS get-together (6 one year olds – so fun!) & attending a 2nd birthday party, & it poured rain all day long! today we were super busy in the yard, planting trees & getting the dog run area ready – thanks for all of the work on the yard babe! I shared a picture of the yard above & promise to share a full yard update soon (it looks so amazing!). how was your weekend?

{eloise shenanigans on friday morning!}

{this is a pretty usual scene – DVD in hand. she has learned to take the disks out of the cases though, so it has become interesting! also, that stripey shirt? I need one in my size!}

{{eloise’s first ride in a cozy coupe at the UVillage. to say that she loved it would be an understatement. she may or may not have thrown a small tantrum when we had to leave…}

{eloise was sporting double Daffy Duck bandaids on her thighs after shots on friday afternoon. she wasn’t too happy about them but was so brave! darn flu season.}

{the maple in front of our house is SO beautiful right now. this picture doesn’t do it justice!}

{we headed to home depot on saturday morning to get supplies for a few on-going projects, including some things for our yard overhaul (which I am so excited to share soon!). don’t mind the pacifier – someone missed her morning nap!}

{eloise was entertaining herself while mama & papa worked on a project.}

{this afternoon was so nice & we had to spend some time outside. after a family walk around the block, I got out eloise’s little bike – a birthday present from grammie & grandpa – & she loved it! a few months ago she was too little for it, but now she can push it down the sidewalk & even sit down on it & take a ride! she had so much fun & then threw a small tantrum when we had to go inside for dinner… are you sensing a theme?}

{I inadvertently match our outfits at least a few times a week & I am not sad about it. today it was black leggings & green shirts!}

{aaron has been wanting to prune this front tree for a long time & I finally gave in. it really couldn’t be worse than it was, & I am pleasantly surprised that it looks better! it seems like about half the tree came down, but go aaron!}

we had a fun weekend filled with catching up with close friends & it was lovely! we had friends over for brunch this afternoon & aaron made the BEST huevos rancheros. seriously, so good! the weather is still warm-ish, but fall has definitely arrived in seattle as the leaves are starting to change & the temperatures are dropping down. I LOVE this time of year in the PNW! we are gearing up for another week & it is hard to believe it is already October… what the heck? how was your weekend?

{waiting at the ferry terminal in anacortes.}

{eloise & aaron out on the deck. it was a little bit windy, but since this was eloise’s first ferry boat ride, a walk out on the deck was a must!}

{getting into orcas island.}

{our rental house had a hopscotch up to the entry way. the house was super quirky, but it worked so well for us even though it felt like we just got to sleep there (we were pretty busy!)}

{enjoying water views from lunch on saturday.}

{we saw a few young deer around the house, including this one!}

{we went to the venue to see if we could help at all & eloise tried on a few of the photo booth props. she was the most adorable bunny!}

{this was the view from the big porch where the ceremony took place. so gorgeous!}

{the view of the water on the way to our house. & the reflection of my jacket, apparently.}

{we headed into the little downtown for lunch & some quick window shopping on saturday, & found this huge wooden sculpture.}

{aaron & I attempted this puzzle on saturday afternoon, but sadly we didn’t get very much of it done before we had to leave.}

{there was a solar-powered sun catcher crystal which eloise was fascinated with on saturday afternoon since it was SO sunny!}

{the bride & groom are big skiiers – that is an understatement – & these old skis were the guestbook.}

{Winnie is the newest addition to the bride & groom’s family, & got to be in the wedding! she is a bernese mountain dog which means she is going to be huge! her paws are as big as eloise’s feet.}

{the lower family all dressed up! I posted this picture to Instagram, but forgot that you can do non-square pictures now. here is the rest of my skirt (but not my shoes, oh well)!}

{colt was in from out of town & eloise was obsessed.}

{congratulations to mr & mrs steward! it was such a perfect wedding & every piece of it was so spot-on to what the couple wanted. they did an amazing job making the most perfect day!}

{we were able to grab some coffee at the ferry terminal in orcas village before heading back home. another beautiful day in the PNW!}

this weekend we headed out to Orcas Island (which is north in the San Juan Islands, but still in WA) for a wedding. it was a two hour drive, an hour long ferry ride, & then another 20 minute drive to get there, but it was worth it! such a fun time. plus, we had our good friend Colt in town (from Indiana) who we travelled with, & had to make sure he got there safe & sound since he was the best man & all… the weather was crisp, cool, & sunny meaning it was perfectly fall, & the island was SO gorgeous. I am already planning a trip back (in my head). we found this great little house on VRBO (which met all of my rental house needs from my last friday post!). such a fun whirlwind weekend with amazing friends, & little eloise who was such a great little traveler! how was your weekend?

{Elliott & Amanda came over for a playdate on friday, & the kids had SO much fun together!}

{started a new sewing project – hint, it’s our Halloween costumes – & I am pretty excited about it!}

{eloise cheered on the boise state broncos to a HUGE win!}

{eloise joined us in the yard on saturday so we could get some work done. she enjoyed watching Sadie, clapping, waving, & pointing at the airplanes.}

{a/c out which means it is officially the end of summer.}

{our neighbor is helping fix the fence & it is looking so good!}

{car wash. eloise’s first. we opened up the screen on the sunroof & she was mesmerized!}

{pre-dinner time shenanigans. these two!}

{eloise has discovered the entire DVD collection since we moved sadie’s dog bed to another part of the living room.}

{eloise’s new favorite thing is looking out the windows, in the living room & in the kitchen. & when she sees her papa outside, she squeals with delight!}

we had a pretty low-key weekend (again, I know!) which was nice for us to get a lot of much-needed things done around the house before life is going to start getting a little crazier as we head into the fall. how was your weekend?

{grammie teaching eloise how to color while waiting for lunch. there was some scribbling, but also some attempts to eat the crayons…}

{trying out a novel. my first since eloise was born!}

{we hit up the local bagel bakery on our way out of town.}

{the Astoria bridge on the coast was so pretty in all of the fog as we left for home on saturday morning.}

{eloise enjoyed some chipotle & people-watching for dinner.}

{the new home for our (way less than two pounds now!) of salt water taffy.}

{lunch out this afternoon before hitting the grocery store. it was raining earlier today so it was perfect soup weather!}

{the gilbertsons sent eloise this fun shopping cart for her birthday. she loves it already & is cruising all over the living room with mr. lion!}

{after the rain stopped we headed out to do some yardwork during eloise’s afternoon nap. luckily it was a long nap since there is so much work for us to do before we have a complete yard overhaul (just the back for now) in a few weeks.}

{this taco soup was on the menu for this evening’s dinner & it calls for white hominy. they only sell it in HUGE cans, so here is aaron posing with it before we divided it all up into freezer bags for future soup!}

we had a pretty low-key weekend which was good after a busy & fun-filled week on the Oregon coast (I will try to post pictures later this week!). saturday we spent the first half of the day driving home, & then unpacking. sunday was spent trying to sleep in (eloise didn’t really let us, but she did sleep all night without a peep!) & getting some yard work done. it was nice to lay low & gear up for another week since the start of fall is so packed! the weather seems to have taken a turn towards fall around here & it is bittersweet. I am not ready for summer to be over (quite yet) but I am ready for fall! how was your weekend?

my {long} weekend in pictures.

{watched the UW vs. BSU game that was in boise on friday. it was a pretty crazy game, especially at the end, but ultimately the broncos won! but still, go dawgs!}

{eloise loves to point & reach towards things these days.}

{this is what it looks like right before eloise destroys this kitchen cabinet!}

{finally fell asleep for her afternoon nap 5 minutes before we got to our house in seaside…}

{such a beautiful sunset.}

this long weekend are in seaside, oregon with my mama (grammie)! we drove in this weekend & have been spending the past few days acclimating to this little beach town & enjoying the last official weekend of summer. eloise has been loving the time with her papa & grammie, & also experiencing the beach for the first time! how was your weekend?

{eloise participated in a research study at the UW about fairness. she did SO well, even with this crazy, brain-wave-reading cap on!}

{our new car reminds me to take my cell phone! thank you VW for hiring a new mom to talk to your programmers about what your customers need in a car.}

{selfie with this mini me!}

{it took me well into the afternoon to figure out that eloise & I were dressed like twinners on friday – stripes & cuffs.}

{I will give you one guess who snuck into the house with muddy paws…}

{eloise was so interested in what papa was up to this weekend. oh power tools! & she looks like she has a mullet in this picture, but she really doesn’t!}

{I made these sweet potato waffles this weekend – a big batch! – to put in the freezer for quicker breakfasts in the morning. eloise was a fan this morning.}

{indian food family dinner at one of our favs Bengal Tiger. so good!}

{working on eloise’s thank you notes for her birthday. some day she will write her own!}

we had a crazy weather weekend – so much rain & storming. we had a low-key weekend which was good since we lost power for nearly three hours on saturday. luckily we have a white noise machine that is battery-operated & it wasn’t too hot (so no fan needed) so eloise slept for a lot of that time. it wasn’t horrible, but you never realize how much you use power unless you don’t have it! even though it was a nice reprieve from the heat & we got a sneak peek of fall weather, I am definitely not ready for summer to be over! how was your weekend?

M

{I am working with eloise on her utensil skills. my friend told me she puts almond (or peanut) butter on a spoon & gives it to her daughter to help her learn about how to use a spoon. I tried it with eloise this weekend & it works so well – genius!}

{this is my new favorite thing eloise does these days: she likes to read a magazine while I change her diaper!}

{eloise is also learning how to share & has started giving people things, like this Xbox game. thanks eloise!}

{eloise reading a pile of books with her friends at a birthday party this weekend.}

{I picked up these long-sleeved Ikea bibs last week & they are fantastic. easy to clean & I don’t have to strip eloise down to a diaper at mealtime!}

{eloise rode her first John Deere tractor this afternoon at a friend’s birthday party. I had to snap a picture & send it to her grandpa! also, doesn’t she look so old? a toddler already. sigh.}

{a sewing project that I have been working on for SO long is hopefully coming to an end this week. a very belated present for eloise that I will be sure to share once it is finished!}

we hit the first birthday party circuit again this weekend which is hilarious & so fun! I just can’t believe eloise & all of her friends are one. we didn’t have much else planned this weekend & were able to get a few things on the never-ending to-do list checked off (yard work for aaron & crafting projects for me). even without a jam-packed weekend, the two days still flew by! how was your weekend?
