{as we approached seattle, we opened the airplane window to discover the most beautiful view of mount rainer!}

we had a whirlwind trip to indiana to see aaron’s family & attend colt & erin’s nuptials this past week. it was so great to see so much family & get to spend some quality time with our niece & nephews {though it is so tough to not see them more often!}. the weather was beautiful & we both enjoyed a stretch of sunny weather with very little humidity {yay!} – looking forward to the summer weather that will hopefully descend upon the emerald city in the coming months. thanks to everyone who made time to hang out with us while we were in town – hope to do it again sometime very soon!

project house {week 9}

{laundry plumbing // radiant pipe ends at the future boiler // radiant pipes retrofitted under the main floor // master bedroom plumbing // front with siding // side with siding}

we are in a phase for a bit that the progress isn’t as visible – plumbing work – as it previously was. ron the plumber worked hard at installing pipes in the bathrooms & also retrofitting the main floor subfloor with radiant heat pipes so that all of the heat will be radiant in the house {no more heating vents!}. we also have house siding now. the lighter colored wood strip is a “belly band” that basically separates the old siding from the new.

I think the next up is finishing up the electrical {including inspections} & then perhaps dry wall? that will definitely be exciting!

what do you think about the update to radiant heat?

my mom was in town visiting this weekend & it was sunny, so all-in-all a great weekend! we enjoyed the weather, ran some errands, & got some things checked off the to-do list.

oh summer!

20140530-131626-47786965.jpg

{via instagram}

believe it or not, summer is right around the corner! it happened so fast I feel like I blinked and we went from january to may – what happened?

this summer holds a lot for our little family of three {yep, three includes sadie} but unlike other summers, we will end the summer with one more than we started with! our June is packed full of a wedding, a maternity photoshoot, double dinner dates, hosting a baby shower, attending a baby shower for me & baby lower, & a celebration of the life of my late grandmother, just to name a few things. july is less scheduled but definitely busy with baby prep & moving the house project along thru it’s final stretch. august, it turns out, has only three for-sure things: two date nights and a birthday!!

like kendra, I will also be taking a bit of a blog break for these summer months. while we will continue the weekly bump updates {that will turn into weekly updates of the babe!} and updates on the house, my other blog posts -including Friday I’m in love and perhaps my weekend in photos – will be on hiatus until the fall.

thanks for following along in out little corner of the interwebs!

{second landing for the stairs {where sadie will eventually have a dog door} // bird’s eye view of the stairs // bedroom windows {so big!} // looking at the stairs to the first landing // entryway & open front door}

there has so much progress in the house these past two weeks – it is amazing! nearly all of the internal framing is done {including the internal staircase!}, the windows are in, & the foundations for the front & back decks have been poured. when we were there on monday, ron the plumber was on site retrofitting the mainfloor subfloors with radiant heat. later this week the electrician should be on site to start the new wiring.

very exciting – thoughts?

{two of my favorite things: peonies & the bump!}

IMG_4860

{I finally got started on a craft project for baby lower’s nursery at crafternoon with amanda.}

we had such an enjoyable long weekend vacationing in downtown seattle. we puttered around the shopping area downtown, took a few trips to the market, dined in bell town, caught up on grey’s anatomy, & enjoyed not having any plans whatsoever. sadie stayed with our good friends jes & cale – thanks you two! – so we knew we could relax without worrying about her. I can’t believe that we are already post-memorial day! that means aaron is one year older & summer {& baby lower} is right around the corner!

friday I’m in love.

welcome back friday! be sure to pop over to kendra’s blog too to see what she’s up to {& amanda periodically joins us as well}. we would love for you to join us! leave a comment and we’ll come check out what you’re loving each week!

{one} DIY marquee sign.

happy hour sign

I have been wanting to make a marquee sign {or even just a letter} for a while & this tutorial from a beautiful mess is really good. I love the idea of battery powered lights so you don’t have a cord hanging down. this is definitely a project you will be seeing on the blog! {at some point…}

{two} sun hats.

sun hat

{via anthro}

um, how cute are sun hats for this summer? not only are they good for protection, but we are beyond jus the fedora style. not sure where I would wear a sun hat quite this large in the emerald city, but I could plan a vacation around it if you made me!

{three} j.crew + paperless post.

cake

{via paperless post}

two of my favorite things combined: j.crew & “paper goods.” isn’t this birthday party invitation wonderful? paperless post is sort of like e-vite in that it is online invitations, but the designs are much more like paper invitations & you have the option of sending the paper version of the invite as well. cool, huh?

what are you loving this week?

{a happy reunion dinner with aaron tonight.}

IMG_4842

{I don’t think she is happy at all… it was so great to see sadie after being gone all weekend!}

I took a quick trip to boise for the long weekend to see family & friends. it was great to be home for a bit! of course I got to see my parents, but also got to catch up with old girlfriends when we got together to celebrate a mama-to-be {again!} in the best possible way – pampering with pedis & a great meal. it was wonderful to see all of the ladies {though we were short a few} & I am so fortunate to have them in my lives {dating back from middle school!}. I feel like I had a refreshing mini-vacation to jump start another week!

friday I’m in love.

{one} paige lauren baby.

paigelauren

one of the realities of not knowing the gender of baby lower is that I am limited in the clothing that I can buy just yet. this has actually been really good for me & has kept me really thinking about basics & what we will really need for a newborn {not much, it sounds like!}. I discovered paige lauren on instagram a few weeks ago & love the simpleness of the baby clothes. so much of what is available is gender neutral {albeit a bit pricey!}. there are a few things {on sale} that I may need to pick up!

{two} j.crew factory necklaces.

jcrewfactory

{stone seed necklace}

I have been loving necklaces these days as I feel like its an easy way to add some fun to my much more limited wardrobe these days. j.crew factory is killing it with cute & affordable necklaces.

{three} madewell slide sightseer sandal.

madewellsandal

as I mentioned last week I am on the hunt for slip-on sandals for the summer. these madewell sandals are perfect: no buckles, leather, come in my size, & good price point!

what are you loving this week?

project house {week 6}

_DSC4045_DSC4046_DSC4048_DSC4049

{the front yard reconfiguration for the new stairs & path // aaron enjoying the 8 foot ceilings}

_DSC4050_DSC4051_DSC4053_DSC4055

{the basement stairwell filled in // the floor plan drawn onto the new slab // the future master bath // the future master bedroom}

_DSC4056_DSC4058_DSC4059_DSC4061

{the future office/extra bedroom // the radiant heat pipe ends in the future utility room // the future internal staircase // aaron with the new windows}

the most recent work has really felt major. not that the lift, demolition, & pony walls weren’t major, but since the new slab has been poured & the framing has started, we are both able to really see the blueprints come to life. some of the major posts & walls are already in place, but when you walk around the new space, you can see the plans drawn out all over the floor – very cool! naturally, the space is feeling much smaller now that it is being compartmentalized, but it is worth it to make this basement our living space.

next steps appear to be more framing (the remainder of the walls & internal stairs), installing the windows, & exterior siding.

thoughts so far?
