{my first unofficial mother’s day card from honest company!}

we enjoyed a fun {but quick!} weekend in the emerald city. it was a bit rainy to begin with, but we are starting into a much-needed warm weather streak. I can’t wait! we celebrated our first mother’s day which seemed a bit strange to be honest. I guess it is hard to imagine I will be part of such an amazing group of women in just a few months! the sun was shining today & I didn’t have to cook or do any dishes, so it seemed like a good celebration!

happy mother’s day to my mom, mother-in-law, sister, sisters-in-law, friends, & all of you mothers out there!

friday I’m in love.

welcome back friday! be sure to pop over to kendra’s blog too to see what she’s up to {& amanda periodically joins us as well}. we would love for you to join us! leave a comment and we’ll come check out what you’re loving each week!

{one} sonnet james.

SJ remi in kate new skirt matt

I was introduced to sonnet james last year {you can see me in the stella dress here} & have been in love ever since! these dresses are super comfy jersey material & are perfect for spring & summer in seattle. plus, they are all bump-friendly! if it is a testament at all to my love of these dresses, I have three hanging in my closet & one more on the way!

{two} it is nearly peony season.

peonies

{via}

peonies are such a great flower. they look great in buds & in bloom & are so easy to style (just stick in a vase!). the only downside is the very short growing season. I have seen peonies starting to make an appearance & have been stalking whole foods & trader joe’s to pick up my first bouquet of the season (& then a bouquet every subsequent week thru-out the season!).

{three} spring casual chic.

as we are finally going to be getting some warmer weather in these parts, I am already envisioning my spring uniform: jean jacket {mine’s this one}, dress, sneakers. done! {& bump friendly.}

{footings & hard foam down & ready for the new slab // breaking up the front sidewalk to make way for new front stairs}

sorry for the delay in updates on this project, life has been way too busy! the past two weeks has brought a lot of work, including finishing up the pony walls & dropping the house back down to its permanent height, placing footings in the basement, laying out the hard foam that will insulate under the new floor slab, & demoing the back stairs and front sidewalk to make way for a new back porch & front stairs.

next up should be: pouring the new slab (with radiant heat pipes), siding, and framing (including the interior stairs!).

what do you think of the progress?

{the new game of thrones – we finally caught up!}

this weekend flew by & seemed to just be a blur except for the beautiful sunny weather went away & the rain clouds stormed in. seriously, we had rain, rain, rain all day long for two days. even for seattleites it was too much!

how was your weekend?

p.s. thank you for all of your love & support from my last post about my grandmother.

miss me, but let me go.

this past weekend we lost my grandmother. a loss that has been harder than I ever imagined it would be. she was the most amazing, fabulous, incredible, & generous person I have {& will ever} know.

she will be forever in my memories: a mariner’s or red sox game, a sale at macy’s, a trip to boston, a nordstrom note, a gin martini, a dog park, a trip abroad, a hardback book, a well-tailored jacket, a dessert after every meal, a pair of drugstore reading glasses, a well-set dinner table, a perfect flower arrangement, a set of freshly starched sheets, a Post-It inside a birthday card, a crossword puzzle.

miss me, but let me go

when I come to the end of the road,

and the sun has set for me,

I want no rites

in a gloom filled room,

why cry for a soul set free.

miss me a little, but not for too long

and not with your head bowed low.

remember the love that we once shared…

miss me, but let me go.

when you are lonely and sick of heart,

go to the friends we know,

and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds…

miss me, but let me go!!!

halmoni – I miss you immensely. thank you for the most amazing years of love & friendship.

project baby {seattle baby shower}

as I had mentioned in this week’s bump post, amanda threw me a beautiful & lovely baby shower this past weekend. it was likely a bit of a challenge since it was gender neutral, but it was so, so perfect! every detail was thought of & executed to perfection. thank you amanda – such a fantastic way to celebrate baby lower with a fabulous group of women!

the spread was perfect – snacks & dessert {french macarons & cupcakes – my fav!} & I adored those hanging balloons. & the very sweetest thing was the guest book: everyone’s thumbprints on the cutest print from where the wild things are. this is the first art piece for the nursery!

{one} overalls.

bee overalls

{image via}

I definitely sported overalls a decade ago & am happy to see they are coming back in style! the skinnier cut is a lot more flattering, & I love them paired with heels like shown here. also, blair {the fashion blogger above} is one of my favorite fashion bloggers! I haven’t been able to find a pair that I can sport over the bump, so I am thinking I will have to wait until the fall {& post-baby} to pick up a pair.

{two} bringing up bebe.

bebe

{Bringing Up Bébé: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting}

at the recommendation of a few new parents, I was given a copy of bringing up bebe which I have been making my way thru. I like that it isn’t completely non-fiction in that it is pamela’s story of having children while living in paris & not just an iteration of a bunch of scientific findings about children. I find the story & writing refreshing & entertaining, but am picking up some tips for baby lower as well.

{three} ‘nuff said.

project house {week 3}

photo(3)

we didn’t have time to really go check the house out this week, but will this weekend & do a big update next week!

I did get a chance to drive by the house though & snap this picture. as of a few days ago the pony walls {the plywood ones you see} are up & the house has been brought down to its new {& permanent} height. obviously siding & front stairs will need to be added, but the focus is the inside for the coming weeks, I imagine, since a new slab will need to be poured, stairs need to be cut, & framing will likely start.

I am also working on getting a floorplan to share of what the new space will look like using floorplanner.com. has anyone used it before & have any tips or tricks?

{needed to pick up & scope out some stuff for the house, & decided it was finally time to join Ikea Family!}

we had a great weekend that was a good mix of getting things marked off of the to-do list & spending time together – the best kind of weekend, right? saturday it was pouring, pouring rain while I was trying to run errands which was miserable, but today’s Easter weather was sunny & pretty warm. very excited for this burst of spring weather! how was your weekend?

{one} pure barre.

I have talked about pure barre a lot off & on, mostly in my weekend in pictures or on instagram. I had taken a bit of a break this past week or so due to moving, out-of-town guests, life, & finally got back into class this week. it was much-needed & felt great to get back to the lift, tone, burn (which is the motto of pure barre). plus, it is super maternity friendly by being low impact & easily modifiable for the growing bump. if you haven’t tried one, definitely check it out – studios will give you your first class for free!

{two} happy chic by jonathan adler.

happy chic

{charlotte apple bookends}

apparently I was living under a rock for the past while because I have just recently heard about the happy chic by jonathan adler collection at jc penney. we have a brand-new jonathan adler store, but the price point is a bit above my current décor budget. I love that this line has the same eclectic & fun feel but at more affordable prices. there are definitely some things from this collection on my wishlist for our new space!
