{one} DIY marquee sign.

happy hour sign

I have been wanting to make a marquee sign {or even just a letter} for a while & this tutorial from a beautiful mess is really good. I love the idea of battery powered lights so you don’t have a cord hanging down. this is definitely a project you will be seeing on the blog! {at some point…}

{two} sun hats.

sun hat

{via anthro}

um, how cute are sun hats for this summer? not only are they good for protection, but we are beyond jus the fedora style. not sure where I would wear a sun hat quite this large in the emerald city, but I could plan a vacation around it if you made me!

{three} j.crew + paperless post.

cake

{via paperless post}

two of my favorite things combined: j.crew & “paper goods.” isn’t this birthday party invitation wonderful? paperless post is sort of like e-vite in that it is online invitations, but the designs are much more like paper invitations & you have the option of sending the paper version of the invite as well. cool, huh?

{one} paige lauren baby.

paigelauren

one of the realities of not knowing the gender of baby lower is that I am limited in the clothing that I can buy just yet. this has actually been really good for me & has kept me really thinking about basics & what we will really need for a newborn {not much, it sounds like!}. I discovered paige lauren on instagram a few weeks ago & love the simpleness of the baby clothes. so much of what is available is gender neutral {albeit a bit pricey!}. there are a few things {on sale} that I may need to pick up!

{two} j.crew factory necklaces.

jcrewfactory

{stone seed necklace}

I have been loving necklaces these days as I feel like its an easy way to add some fun to my much more limited wardrobe these days. j.crew factory is killing it with cute & affordable necklaces.

{three} madewell slide sightseer sandal.

madewellsandal

as I mentioned last week I am on the hunt for slip-on sandals for the summer. these madewell sandals are perfect: no buckles, leather, come in my size, & good price point!

{one} sonnet james.

SJ remi in kate new skirt matt

I was introduced to sonnet james last year {you can see me in the stella dress here} & have been in love ever since! these dresses are super comfy jersey material & are perfect for spring & summer in seattle. plus, they are all bump-friendly! if it is a testament at all to my love of these dresses, I have three hanging in my closet & one more on the way!

{two} it is nearly peony season.

peonies

{via}

peonies are such a great flower. they look great in buds & in bloom & are so easy to style (just stick in a vase!). the only downside is the very short growing season. I have seen peonies starting to make an appearance & have been stalking whole foods & trader joe’s to pick up my first bouquet of the season (& then a bouquet every subsequent week thru-out the season!).

{three} spring casual chic.

spring casual chic

as we are finally going to be getting some warmer weather in these parts, I am already envisioning my spring uniform: jean jacket {mine’s this one}, dress, sneakers. done! {& bump friendly.}

{one} overalls.

bee overalls

{image via}

I definitely sported overalls a decade ago & am happy to see they are coming back in style! the skinnier cut is a lot more flattering, & I love them paired with heels like shown here. also, blair {the fashion blogger above} is one of my favorite fashion bloggers! I haven’t been able to find a pair that I can sport over the bump, so I am thinking I will have to wait until the fall {& post-baby} to pick up a pair.

{two} bringing up bebe.

bebe

{Bringing Up Bébé: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting}

at the recommendation of a few new parents, I was given a copy of bringing up bebe which I have been making my way thru. I like that it isn’t completely non-fiction in that it is pamela’s story of having children while living in paris & not just an iteration of a bunch of scientific findings about children. I find the story & writing refreshing & entertaining, but am picking up some tips for baby lower as well.

{three} ‘nuff said.

{one} pure barre.

I have talked about pure barre a lot off & on, mostly in my weekend in pictures or on instagram. I had taken a bit of a break this past week or so due to moving, out-of-town guests, life, & finally got back into class this week. it was much-needed & felt great to get back to the lift, tone, burn (which is the motto of pure barre). plus, it is super maternity friendly by being low impact & easily modifiable for the growing bump. if you haven’t tried one, definitely check it out – studios will give you your first class for free!

{two} happy chic by jonathan adler.

happy chic

{charlotte apple bookends}

apparently I was living under a rock for the past while because I have just recently heard about the happy chic by jonathan adler collection at jc penney. we have a brand-new jonathan adler store, but the price point is a bit above my current décor budget. I love that this line has the same eclectic & fun feel but at more affordable prices. there are definitely some things from this collection on my wishlist for our new space!

{three} superhero.

{one} red quinoa salad with butternut squash, cranberries, & pecans.

red quinoa salad

we made this salad earlier this week & it was so delicious! we added black beans to make it more of a meal, but it would be a great side!

{two} kashi crunchy granola & seed bars, chocolate chip chia.

kashi

since I am constantly eating {I blame it on the babe!} I am always on the look-out for a yummy & portable snack that I can keep at my desk or in my purse. I found these kashi bars that I really like – crunchy & just a bit sweet.

{three} babyGap paddington bear rain jacket.

paddington

a big sale at gap a few weekends ago prompted me to start buying for baby lower’s wardrobe. it has been good for me to not know the gender of our babe so that I don’t buy every cute thing I see, but we will need some things. I saw this rain coat & even though it’s looks huge, it is perfect for our drizzly seattle weather.

{one} mariners baseball.

mariners

I have to admit that I have been a bit of a fair-weather fan over the past few years when it comes to our local baseball team. its not that I haven’t been supportive {or rooting for another team} but I haven’t exactly been paying attention. I was able to catch the first part of the game on wednesday night & only two players on the entire starting line-up were even familiar!

I do have to say though that I am really proud of the M’s for sweeping the Angels in the opening series of the season. 3-0 is a pretty great record!

{two} warby parker minnie sunglasses.

minnie

we finally had some gorgeous sunny spring weather in the emerald city & I am itching to get another fun pair of sunglasses. I am loving these fun green ones from warby parker!

{three} having my husband home.

i thought about you

{pin via}

this week aaron ventured off to san francisco for a business trip & I have to say, I missed him terribly! he was only gone for four days, but it felt like forever! I am much happier when we are in the same state {& zip code!} & am so glad he is back in town.

{one} blueberry greek yogurt banana bread.

I was craving banana bread earlier in the week {which is weird because I have had an aversion to bananas since my pregnancy started…} & I knew emily over on the daily garnish would have at least a few recipe ideas. I decided to make the blueberry greek yogurt one {also weird since I don’t really love blueberries} & have been loving it for quick breakfasts this week. next on my list: churro swirl banana bread.

{two} goodwill donation centers.

as we have been preparing for a big move {more on that next week I promise!} I have been feeling very grateful for the fine folks over at the goodwill who have very kindly taken many, many things off of our hands. our basement was packed fully {okay, not completely} of stuff that we don’t need/use/want but haven’t had any motivation to do anything with because it was out-of-sight-out-of-mind. until now. aaron & I were both on a mission to minimize how much stuff we have & made sure that we really weren’t keeping anything that we didn’t need/want.use. thanks goodwill for taking all of our old stuff off of our hands – you are a lifesaver!

{three} paige denim maternity skinny jeans.

paige denim

I am not sure why, but I have always {even long before I was pregnant} been anti-maternity clothes. I think in my mind I see them as being frumpy… plus, I am barely big enough to fit into maternity clothes {pants at least} so they haven’t been on my radar for very long. when my mom was in town a few weeks ago she spoiled me with a few maternity items {I tried things on with the big fake belly & it was hilarious!}. one of my newest closet additions are these paige jeans. I am a huge fan of page denim anyways {& still am trying to rock them with a belly band – the skyline are my fav} but these are amazing! at first I wasn’t sure about the side panels {rather than the fully belly panel}, but since I can fit into them now & as I continue to grow it is a bonus! I just took them to nordy’s for hemming but know that I will be living in them for the next few months. I can’t wait!

{one} storq minimal materinity basics.

storq dress

obviously I am keen on maternity clothes these days as I am nearly to the point I can fit into them. I have always sort of been anti-maternity clothes though because I think a lot of them are really matronly, & was/am hoping to wear “normal” clothes as much as I can. for the most part I can wear the vast majority of my wardrobe, though pants are becoming more of an issue. any-hoo, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this storq line of maternity basics: just a dress, leggings, a tank, & a skirt. & much more affordable than a lot of maternity wear out there!

{two} snail mail made easy by postable.

postable

as a person who absolutely adores snail mail {I send letters via mail any chance I get!} I am always interested in new ways of sending mail. postable is a company that is like snail mail for the 21st century! you go online & pick out cards & type out your messages, & then postable prints & mails the cards out. it is a bit more expensive than the old fashioned pen, paper, & stamp, but definitely a convenient luxury!

{three} sunny weather in seattle!

after a very wet & dreary weekend, it was such a pleasant surprise to have the sun shining this morning {& in the forecast for the next few days}, especially since we have officially hit spring! around the pnw all of the bulbs are up {daffodils are blooming with most tulips on their way} & spring florals blooming {rhodies & cherry blossoms}, but normally the weather doesn’t feel like “spring” until much, much later {like late april or may}. when we do get sun & some warmer temps this time of year, you have to just enjoy the moment & take it in since you never know when it will be back around. thanks seattle for a perfectly sunny start to spring!

{one} a little tough love from papa lion.

this video is hilarious & totally made my week. I know aaron won’t be like this with our kids & I am hoping sadie won’t be either!

{two} anthro cat-eye sunglasses.

anthro glasses

I picked these up at anthro a few weeks ago with my birthday discount & I am in love (surprise, surprise). as much as I adore the style of expensive sunglasses – like these prada ones! – I just can’t get myself to spend that much money on an accessory that I will likely lose or sit on. I also have issues finding glasses that fit me well since I need them to sit close enough to my face to accommodate my nearly-on-existent nose bridge, but far away enough not to hit my lashes on the lenses. there are nearly a perfect fit!

{three} mercer d’Orsay flatsmercer d’Orsay flats.

d'orsay flats

I have a pair of d’Orsay heels that are one of my favorite pairs of shoes ever, & I am loving these d’Orsay flats that are making an appearance for the spring & summer. also, any flats with a pointy toe are a win in my book {since they make my tiny foot look a tad bigger}.
