project baby #3 {week 31}

{week 31} Holy cow we’ve had a summer heat wave in Seattle and it is HOT!

Generally Seattle doesn’t see hot summer weather until after the Fourth of July, and that was definitely true this year. And this past week, we have been making up for it! We have a new A/C window unit for our living room (purchased and installed in the spring during an early heat wave) which has allowed us to put the older, smaller unit in the playroom (our old office/guestroom). I’m sensitive to the heat as it is, but oh boy, I have forgotten how unforgiving pregnancy is in the hot! {That being said, I would much rather be pregnant in the summer than have a summer newborn. A tiny infant clinging to you 24/7 is not ideal.} I’ve taken some extra time to sit with my feet up (to help with any swelling) and cool off which is tricky with the girls being so active during the day, but even a little bit helps.

The combination of the heat and just being this far along – just TWO months from my due date! – I am definitely feeling pregnant. This past week it feels like the baby has been living up in my ribs and lungs, and I can’t catch a full breath! Sitting for any period of time has become difficult in it exacerbates the crowded feeling in my lungs. I remember this feeling with the girls, but not quite this early? Standing and stretching (back arched) helps a bit, but I think the only thing that will really make a difference is when the baby drops (which I am definitely not ready for)!

We had family photos taken this past week. I went back and forth for a while wondering if we should do a shoot, knowing that we’ll be doing another family photo shoot in the fall once the baby arrives. But the timing worked out with our photographer (Ashley Vos if you are local to Seattle!) who was offering mini-shoots and I was feeling like my future self would want some family photos with the bump. I also just can’t resist a good family photo session, right? It’s an investment but you’ll never regret having someone capture those moments. I’ll be sure to share here and over on my Instagram once we get the files!

Also, a few of you have asked about how my nausea has been into this third trimester. I am happy to report (and knock on wood!) that I haven’t been sick at all! I was on a twice-per-day dosage of Zofran which seemed to keep any symptoms at bay. Just this past weekend I forgot to take my evening dose and it ended up being fine. So for the past few days, I’ve just taken a morning dose. While I am always eager to completely wean off any medications, it feels like such a BIG risk in this case. It probably sounds crazy, but I am telling you that morning sickness nausea is THE WORST! So I’ll chat with my OB at my next appointment but am happy to stay on Zofran once per day until delivery!

Speaking of OBs, next week I have my 32 week appointment and then after that, I will be in the office every two weeks. The last month, it’s every week. All of these appointments will be in-person which is good and bad. It is really starting to feel real around here guys!

And here’s the weekly posts from Eloise and Daphne!

Happy 31 weeks, Baby Lower!
