{one} grilled ginger-sesame chicken salad.

http://menumusings.blogspot.com/

{via Menu Musings}

the combination of the hot weather & finally having a grill (I think aaron may be slightly obsessed!) have made grilled [fill-in-the-blank] salads very popular around the lower house! we tried this chicken salad a few weeks ago & are still talking about it. it was so good. the cabbage base makes it super crunchy & the marinade on the chicken was easy & so delish! the only change I made was to buy a package of pre-shredded cabbage & carrots so that I didn’t have to shred them myself.

{two} bare belly organics sunscreen.

{via Bare Belly Organics}

sunscreen. so, so important & something I have been really working on being good about. between being as good as I can about keeping eloise protected & a recent mole removal at my annual skin check (benign, phew!), I have been a bit obsessed you could say. I scoured the EWG website for the best, most effective, & safest sunscreen, & I think this is pretty close to perfect. I bought the three-pack (shown above) & it is awesome. I keep the body stick & face stick in the diaper bag, & the bigger jar on the entryway table (as I am always slathering on sunscreen before we head out the door). I am really picky about sunscreen & get anxiety about all of the chemicals (started when I was pregnant) but hate super greasy sunscreens (which most of the “best” ones are). this bare belly is great & while it goes on white, it rubs in well & I find that I don’t need to wash my hands after applying. & the sticks are so convenient with a wiggly eloise. she doesn’t seem to mind getting sunscreen applied, especially if I let her play with one of the sticks. I sometimes use this sunscreen on myself as well as this Alba Botanicals one. we also keep the new Honest Company one around too (love that it isn’t as sticky & thick as it used to be!).

{three} serena & lily beach towels.

{via Serena & Lily}

now that eloise is old enough to venture out to the splash pad, pool, or even the beach, I have been using our beach towels like crazy. much like our kitchen towels, our beach towels are a mish-mash of towels from random places. I am loving these stripey ones from Serena & Lily that were featured in the most recent catalog. very west elm-esque if you ask me. plus, I am a sucker for anything with a stripe! some day we will have a collection of gorgeous, stripey beach towels!

{one} june & january mix & match sets.

June and January

{via Instagram}

june & january (formerly little hip squeaks) is launching some fun new clothes for the babe. I am dying for this mix& match set of shorts & a crop top for eloise. seriously, so adorable!

{two} baby book.

{via Paper Source}

so this blog is definitely eloise’s baby book, but being that I am a little bit old school & LOVE paper goods, I feel like I should still be doing a real baby book. I like this one because it seems simple & manageable (meaning I would actually fill it out). any other mamas out there do real baby books for their kiddos?

{three} personalized sandra boynton book.

Are You a Cow Board Book?

{via Pint Size Productions}

while we sort of have a rule about all new books coming into the house needing to be in spanish (or french, or another language aaron or I could read), we also LOVE sandra boynton. & this is the book Are You A Cow? but it is personalized with your child’s picture & name. granted, eloise is just chewing books these days & won’t recognize her written name for a while, but this is still really cool. any other sandra b. fans out there?

{one} raising wild swimwear.

RW Print-61.jpg

{h style via Raising Wild}

as summer is quickly approaching, I have been thinking about all of the things eloise & I can do to beat the heat & get out of the house, & I feel like I may need to add another swimsuit (or two) to my arsenal. I am loving this new trend towards one-piece styles since it seems a little more mama-friendly (something about wearing a bikini with an infant seems a little weird – anyone?). raising wild is a new start-up that I found via Instagram & is doing pre-orders on two really cute styles.

{two} love ring.

Paloma Picasso®:Love Ring

{via Tiffany & Co}

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry (& much less now with eloise) but I have always had a fondness for the word “love.” I blame it on my valentine’s day birthday! so, I am definitely loving this oldie but goodie love ring by paloma picasso. diamonds & rose gold? yes, please.

{three} crewcuts romper.

{via Crewcuts}

I have been keeping an eye out for cute pieces for eloise’s one year photoshoot & crewcuts (j.crew’s baby line) is always a good place for inspiration. if I was willing to spend $49 on a stripey romper for eloise, she would wear this one all summer long!

{one} oh joy! band-aids for target.

20 Count Adhesive Bandages Band-Aid

{via Target}

I adore joy cho, the blogger & designer behind Oh Joy!  & I know I have raved about her before but I am just smitten about her latest collaboration – band-aids! & if you buy three boxes, you can get this little first aid kit for free!

{two} iplay sunhat.

Solid Brim Sun Protection Hat-Navy

{via Amazon}

the easter bunny brought eloise this sunhat & we have gotten so much use out of it already this spring. it is great because it is big enough to shade her face & neck, has built-in sun protection, can fold up, is quick-dry with a breathable mesh, & is adjustable. eloise has learned to untie the strings pretty quickly, but does a good job of keeping it on her head. so far. I sort of wish that I had gotten a lighter color, but the navy goes with everything!

{three} kate spade kitchen towel.

diner stripe kitchen towel by kate spade new york

{via Kate Spade}

we have such a mish-mash of kitchen towels that we have collected over the years. at this point I am ready to have a more streamlined look. I love these kate spade ones that have a fun quote as well. anthro also has some fun towels though I find that most are really feminine & don’t look good folded (does any one else have to fold their towels when they hang them. even from the oven door handle?).

{one} rifle paper co + lesportsac

XL Rectangular Cosmetic by LeSportsac

Travel Tote by LeSportsac

{via Rifle Paper Co // rectangular cosmetic // travel tote}

I have previously professed my love for all things rifle paper co & I am smitten over all of the recent collaborations, including this one with lesportsac. I remember both my mom & my grandmother using lesportsac bags & pouches growing up so I have very fond memories of the brand. I love the spin that anna bond put on the iconic bags!

{two} j.crew

{via J.Crew}

j.crew (per usual) is killing it with its newest catalog offering. #givemeeverything I haven’t been shopping a lot for myself recently (because, let’s be honest, it is way more fun to shop for eloise if I am going to shop!) but I may need to pick up a few summer staples (like these adorable pants I just picked up at the most recent sale!).

{three} balloon dogs

Giant Paper Flower Party Hats | Oh Happy Day!

{via Oh Happy Day!}

jordan over at Oh Happy Day! always has the best tutorials & ideas for parties, & these balloon dogs aren’t too shabby. if eloise was older & could walk, I would totally get her a pack of balloon dogs!

since we just got back from traveling, I thought I would share some of my favorites from traveling with eloise. {also, I know I owe you an update with pics from our trip. coming soon!}

{one} car sun shade.

{via Amazon}

as we are moving further into spring, I noticed we needed a sun shade in our car to keep eloise out of the sun, despite having tinted windows. we tried a more traditional shade that clips to the top of the window, but as a safety feature our windows automatically go down if there is something in the way of the window… bummer. I did a quick Amazon search & found these great cling shades. I have been happy with them so far & was excited that they are easily packable {they roll into a travel pouch}. it was great to bring these along since it was already summer-y weather in indiana.

{two} placemat.

{via Amazon}

we bring this placemat with us when we go out to eat at restaurants so I knew we would want to bring it when we were traveling the past few weeks. it doesn’t suction very well to most tables, but it does good enough. we used it all week in indiana at aaron’s parents’ house as they had just a booster seat & a glass table. we also used it on the airplane tray flying home during dinnertime & it was perfect!

{three} glass food containers.

{via Amazon}

I talked about these briefly in eloise’s nine month post, but in thinking about the things we used most while traveling, these are high on the list. I used these containers daily to prep eloise’s meals, either to defrost frozen fruit or veggies, to store extra food (to feed at the next mealtime), or to pack food on-the-go. I am a weirdo about plastic & like that these are glass (even though I don’t put them in the microwave), plus they hold the perfect amount of food for eloise!

while I do like my diaper bag, I am sort of dying to carry a handbag again! I am hoping I can make or find a small changing pad that I could throw into a handbag since eloise doesn’t need quite as much these days. here are a few cross-body bags I am dreaming about!

{one} bocce ball set.

A stunning Bocce set!

{via One King’s Lane}

with the combination of the warmest day of the year just this week (it was glorious!) & my anticipation of a re—do of our yard this summer, I have been dreaming about spending warm summer days & evenings outside. a BBQ & bocce ball sounds perfect, & this set is so fun!

{two} pitch perfect 2.

In Pitch Perfect 2, the Barden Bellas are back in another a capella movie! Find more information about the movie, cast members, and trailers on the official Pitch Perfect 2 movie website.

I fell off the Glee bandwagon a while back but I know the sequel to Pitch Perfect will not disappoint. two weeks left, who’s with me? #soexcited

{three} tiny mariners fan.

Seattle Mariners Toddler Basic MVP Adjustable Cap by '47 Brand - MLB.com Shop

{via Mariners Team Store}

it probably isn’t a surprise to hear (although still disappointing) that we are pretty much fairweather fans when it comes to the mariners. we always get our hopes up in april after a (usually) great spring training run, but then get disinterested by may. however, we will be taking eloise to her first game next month & I am excited to be back at safeco field. there is nothing like being at a ball park! also, I think we might need to get her a tiny baseball hat.

also, sorry for last week’s post (it was short two pictures)! it has been updated if you care to see.

{one} capsule wardrobe.

collage

{via Dallas Mom’s Blog}

denaye did an awesome post about a capsule wardrobe. this isn’t a new concept, but she pulled it off so well! the idea is that you have a very limited wardrobe of things that you LOVE & that all can be worn together. recently I have been all about “fewer better things” so it is right up my alley. my wardrobe has been pared down from my pregnancy & now to be nursing-friendly, but I plan to edit heavily once eloise is weaned. {check out her newest adventure Crib to Table! it is my go-to guide for all things baby eating.}

{two} paper crown + rifle paper co. dress.

{via Anthropologie}

I love (LOVE) rifle paper co so any collaboration is a win for me. I am obsessed with this dress featuring anna bond’s beautiful prints. check out more of the collection here.

{three} damn delicious.

Broiled Salmon Gyros with Cucumber Feta Yogurt Dip - A healthy, protein-packed gyro with an easy homemade Greek yogurt dip!

{via Damn Delicious}

planning meals for the week is a necessary, but often difficult, task for me. I don’t like to eat the same thing over & over again, & I am still at the stage with eloise that I am making (mostly) separate food for her each meal (I am hoping to change that in the very near future!). I used to scour my Pinterest board each week (that I share with Meg!) for ideas, but these days I check out Damn Delicious & can usually find at least a few recipes for the week. I have also been trying to have a category of meal for each day (one crock pot meal, one pasta, one fish or meat dish, one pizza dish since aaron makes the best pizza!, etc.) everything I have ever made is, well, delicious, including the broiled salmon gyros that we tried just last week. so so tasty!

{one} DIY summer Pom Pom throw

{via Sugar & Cloth}

since making Eloise’s curtains, I have been loving Pom Pom trim! Isn’t this throw great?

{two} DIY gold alphabet letters

spray paint & magnetic letters? I love this already.

{via Uncovet}

{three} DIY napkins

20150417_051051000_iOS

we use cloth napkins every day to cut down on paper waste. plus it’s fun to have a print on the table rather than just a white paper napkin. I usually have just hemmed the edges of a Fat Quarter, but this seems a little fancier!

{via 100 Layer Cake}

I am on a bit of a DIY kick, can you tell?
