eloise {last day of second grade}

I made Eloise do one silly face but also, how doe she look like a teenager already? She’s growing out her hair long + I feel like it makes her look so much older.

This year was a really wonderful school year. While it wasn’t totally “normal” it was as close as we’ve come since the world shut down and Eloise was in Kindergarten.

I think it’s true of all of the teachers at Eloise’s school (it’s SUCH a great school!) but her second grade teacher was truly the BEST! She brought such joy and warmth to her classroom, and as Eloise was transitioning into a new school community and back into a classroom setting, we were confident that her teacher was supporting her all the way. She will be missed by all of us (she was SO sweet with Daphne at school pick-up each day) and I definitely cried when we said good-bye on Friday. Being able to send your child to a school that feels safe, loving, and secure with everything that’s happening in our country is such a gift.

Luckily Eloise didn’t have any remote schooling this year! What a relief. Despite high rates in various times throughout the school year in both our zip code and the school, Eloise was able to be vaccinated (and boosted!) and the school continued contact tracing and masking requirements (and social distancing and eating lunch + snack outside) until the end of the school year.

This girl is SO ready for third grade already – excited for learning cursive (hopefully!) and multiplication. She’s already asking to do her summer workbooks. HA! I just hope we can keep her with a steady stream of (new-to-her) reading material for the next few months.

And here is Eloise’s first day of school.

Happy, Happy Summer!
