fitz {month fifteen}

{month fifteen} Merry Christmas week from this tiny toddler!

Fitz is RUNNING everywhere these days, just trying to keep up with the girls. And he’s still climbing up on everything – dining room chairs, the coffee table, the dining room table, the couch. Luckily Aaron is on vacation these last few weeks (and while the girls are on Winter Break) because someone has to be watching him 100% of the time.

[Side note: I was re-reading his last month’s update about how we got the learning tower down for him for the kitchen. The update there is that he promptly fell off of it, twice, and we had to put it away for a while.]

He’s super chatty these days too: baby (is now bubba), water (wawa – which is used for any drink), milk, door*, YAY, music (moo moo), and animal sounds ( moo, baa, neigh). He has started calling Daphne dada or da which I think will turn into Daph, and are working on the E sound for Eloise.

*We keep both the upstairs bathroom and office/extra bedroom doors closed basically all the time because they aren’t gated off. If any of us ever leave the doors open, Fitz points to them and says “door, door, door” almost like an alarm; and if someone doesn’t go and close the door right away, he runs over and sees how much trouble he can get into!

This kid is a music and dancing machine. He’s absolutely obsessed with music which we frequently play via Spotify on our living room TV. He requests it by running over to the TV, pointing to it, and saying moo moo. But any time he hears any type of music, he starts dancing. It’s the best. He does a lot of squatting when he dances and often is so into it, he ends up falling on his bottom!

Books are a new favorite thing. Fitz spends a lot of moments flipping through books himself which is so sweet to see. But he loves to have someone read him a story too and frequently brings his favorite books over to listen to. There are two fun new things he does with books: the first is that at the end of the book (either when you close the back cover or say The End) he waves bye-bye, and the second is that he will bring a book over to you and spin around so he can back up into your lap, but if he isn’t close enough, he will just keep turning around until he hits your lap.

Loves: Brown Bear, Brown Bear; a book of (kid) faces; 100 First Words (points out: ball, shoes, bottle, banana, hat); a book on both Oprah and Michelle Obama, Poke-A-Dot book that has bubble-wrap-like dots to press (he calls it bubble).

Last week Aaron and I took Fitz to the Zoo for the first time, just the three of us. The girls were in school and it was bitterly cold, but we needed to be out of the house for the house cleaner. Anyways, Fitz was SO upset in the car between dropping off Daphne at school and getting to the Zoo that he threw up in his car seat. Lovely. But we were there right as the Zoo opened and it was pretty quiet which was nice. Fitz was out walking for a little bit, but mostly bundled up in his stroller sleeping bag. After about an hour, he passed out and we just let him sleep since it was his old morning nap time anyways. Luckily, when we got him back in the car, he wasn’t quite so upset about being in his car seat. AND he still took a solid afternoon nap.

Because of the holidays, I pushed back his 15 month wellness check into early January, so I don’t have any updates from that. But I suspect he will need a few vaccines. We hope to have him weaned off his bedtime bottle between probably 16 and 17 months. He’s sort of obsessed with that bottle (and sleeps SO well at night) so we are hesitant to disrupt that routine.
