i was in boise last week & drove home on saturday. my mom joined me on the drive back much to my delight & she will be here thru the middle of the week. i am still getting used to the almost forty degree temperature difference between boise & seattle – where is that beautiful summer weather we had just a few weeks ago? how was your weekend?

{sadie did not like the thunder & lightning storm we had on friday. she spent most of the morning hugging my arm.}

{sadie took a snooze at ace hardware. home depot is actually her favorite store because they serve popcorn – which inevitably gets all over the floor – but ace does have dog treats.}

{downloading music & audiobooks for my drive to idaho on monday. yep, that iPod is a relic.}

{nap time at the lower house on sunday afternoon. aaron had the right idea sleeping with his hat on his face; i should have closed that curtain.}

we had a pretty lazy weekend & got a few things done around the house, but mostly we just hung out & relaxed. how was your weekend?

{we have a very big & expensive hole in our yard as a result of a few plumbing issues. this is the not-so-fun part of homeownership!}

{sadie & i enjoyed some deck time before i went to yoga on friday morning.}

{jez (our jetta) just rolled over 70,000 miles. not bad for a 2003. not bad at all.}

{we enjoyed a yummy dinner at boom noodle on friday. delish!}

{we saw the new woody allen movie with my grandmother. it was funny & definitely gave us the travel bug. rome anyone?}

{we finally visited the restore in ballard. it is filled with fixtures from houses that are usually discounted quite a bit. there was a little too much for us, but maybe if we are looking for something more specific. #overwhelmed.}

{while we were in ballard, we stopped to have lunch at the ridgeback café. this is justin’s restaurant, the husband of our realtor PJ who made all of the delicious crepes at our housewarming party.}

{sadie was so proud of herself & the hole that she dug under the fence. we were invited to our across-the-street neighbors’ house on saturday for dinner (due to our plumbing issues this week) & decided to leave sadie in the backyard. shortly after we had finished dessert, we get a visitor to our dinner party in the form of sadie showing up at the neighbors’ house like she owned the place. we were sure she had hopped the fence & followed our voices, but soon enough we discovered she is a digger. boo.}

{aaron, sadie, & i took a family walk over to greenlake on sunday morning. it was sunny & beautiful!}

{i don’t know why yoga in the park is such an omg, especially in seattle, but i guess it is.}

{we were downtown running a few errands & i gave aaron the tour of the new nordstrom rack.}

{sadie was so excited to snuggle on the couch after a long weekend with her new beagle friend maggie. thanks marcus, katy, & maggie for keeping sadie company while we were away!}

{we were too lazy to make dinner on sunday night (after leaving at o’dark thirty & traveling all day) so we hit up pies & pints near our house.}

we spent the long weekend in the deep south celebrating the wedding day of our very good friends andy & hailey. aaron was a groomsman & looked so handsome in his tux. to say it was hot & humid would be an understatement, but we had an amazing time. congrats andy & hailey! {wedding pics to be posted later this week. i hope.}

{we wanted to see moonrise kingdom but it was sold out. the next movie showing was that’s my boy. i knew it was going to be bad, but it was way worse than i thought it could possibly be. i had more faith in leighton meester. oh well! i think some of the upcoming summer blockbusters will make up for this one.}

we got to catch up with a few old friends & show-off our house – so fun! how was your weekend?

{i did a LOT of painting this weekend & it is finally done! wahoo! we are letting the doors dry for a few days before they go back up mid-week. i will try to post pictures of our updated kitchen next week (meg garner-ballard: your wait is almost over!).}

{we were lucky enough to get a free half-time show courtesy of the roosevelt high school marching band that marched down our street. they were legit with full costumes & police escorts.}

{we tried out a restaurant just north of our house. aaron loved the beer & there was great artwork!}

{sadie often feels the need to hug my arm. it is adorable.}

{we enjoyed a yummy sunday night dinner date at the skillet diner. grilled pb&j, roasted beets, & chicken on a waffle. it was de-lish!}

{new shoe debut. i love these shoes, however, wearing almost four inch heels for the first time when going to a standing-room-only concert is not a really good idea.}

{we got to see dia frampton at chop suey for a late sunday night concert. happy belated birthday aaron!}

it was a busy weekend, per usual, but fun & even a little bit sunny. how was your weekend?

{when it is 5 o’clock on a friday & your husband says he doesn’t want dinner for a few hours, you are glad you stock salsa in the pantry!}

{i like to think of saturday as homeowner’s day, as in do housework. our saturday was filled with clearing out the kitchen cabinets to sand & degloss, & trim the hedges.}

{my saturday evening was spent with my grandmother: dinner & shopping!}

{yep, those are our kitchen cabinets. in the basement. there are big things brewin’ at the lower house.}

{we finally got the car washed!}

{the 520 bridge was closed this weekend, so we took i-90 across lake washington instead. it was a much longer drive, but we got to see downtown all lit up!}

we are in the midst of one large house project – a minor update to the kitchen – which is all-consuming. how was your weekend?

{on our friday morning commute, we discovered a giraffe lives in the neighborhood. apparently giraffes can live in rhodies.}

{the first of many, many trips to the yard waste bin. we spent saturday cleaning up the yard. it was A LOT of work. kudos to all of you who have yards that always look neat!}

{we saw the king tut exhibit at the pacific science center. it was a bit of a disappointment as king tut wasn’t even there, but we also saw the laser gaga show & it (partly) made up for it!}

{sadie accompanied us on our rounds to the hardware store this weekend. she was so sweet & laid down waiting for us to go home. this was after she hoovered the popcorn remnants from the floor – thanks home depot for the free popcorn!}

{my amazing husband converted the power in our new pantry (formerly a laundry closet). our microwave now has a new home. yay for more counter space!}

{another painting project completed this weekend. the kitchen.}

we kept ourselves busy this weekend with homeowner-y stuff. it was a lot of work, but really worth it! this place is really starting to feel like home. our home.

there are lots of updates on the house that i have been meaning to post. i will get them up in the next few days for sure!

{there were lots & lots of tolls paid this weekend from lots & lots of trips from bellevue to seattle over the 520 bridge.}

my parents were in town & helped us with lots of projects around the house. there were lots of things crossed off our to do list which feels wonderful.
