{one} childhoods clothing.

slide_1_alt.jpg

{via Childhoods Clothing}

surprisingly, I don’t buy a lot of clothes for eloise. thanks in part to her Grammie & Nana (thanks!) & also because it seems like such a waste. even now that eloise isn’t growing out of things at the speed of light (i.e., wearing something more than once) I still can’t justify buying clothes for her just for the sake of buying clothes (however cute!). this means that when I do buy something, it’s often a splurge. I like good quality clothes & really love supporting small businesses (if possible). much like my love for Freshly Picked moccasins (which are the ONLY footwear eloise sports these days, not even socks!) enter: Childhoods. I recently got eloise a black & white striped hoodie (see here) & I am obsessed. it’s soft & well made & I wish it came in my size. eloise doesn’t like that it has to go over her head, but is comfortable in it once its on. the only downside is that the hoodies seem to run small; I ordered a 9 to 12 months hoping to get a lot of life out of it, but it fits eloise perfectly right now. I know she is slightly large for her age, but she’s no where close to 12 months! maybe I can get another during a sale… also, I am obsessed with these sweat shorts!

{two} moments journal.

{via Anthropologie}

I adore paper planners & journals. up until last year I used a Moleskine day planner religiously. in my new life (as a mama) I find that my Gmail calendar works much better since it is on my phone & sends me reminders. however, I miss the paper & pen part of my days, so when I came across this “moments” planner at Anthro a few months ago, I had to get it. there are three parts: monthly calendar blocks (you can add in any months you want to); to do lists (with checkboxes!); & grid paper (for planning). for me, this is so perfect. I can see the entire year at a glance with all of the big stuff penciled in, have as many to do lists as I need, & places to store all of my thoughts & ideas for, well, everything (future projects, DIYs, etc.).

{three} fiddle fig tree.

I am not the very best at taking care of plants, but I am sort of obsessed with fiddle fig trees. I think I want one somewhere in my house. in the entryway, or our bedroom perhaps?

welcome back friday! be sure to pop over to see what kendra, mary beth, amanda, & laura are loving this week. we would love for you to join us! leave a comment and we’ll come check out what you’re loving each week!

in honor of the upcoming easter weekend, I thought I would share some of my favorite easter DIYs (though I have only done this one).

{one} words on eggs.

wordy eggs

{via}

growing up all eggs that were hardboiled were scribbled on with a Sharpie, & usually some type of funny face. anyone else? we do that in our house now, or we put them in this ceramic dish. but, I think I should start making our eggs really pretty with fun lettering & sayings.

{two} bunny treat bags.

easter bunnies.

{via}

eloise isn’t going to be getting candy in her easter basket for a while (maybe never!) but I do love these little treat bags. it would also be cute to just stuff them & re-use them as decorations each year.

{three} ombre eggs.

ombre eggs

{via Pinterest}

even though it’s super trendy (& probably going to be out of style soon) I really love ombre. I haven’t found a really good place to incorporate it in our house, but I think holiday décor is the way to do it. I love these egg groupings – how fun!

{one} farewell paperie.

{via Farewell Paperie}

it is not a big secret that I am a huge fan of paper goods, snail mail, handlettering, & the like. call me old fashioned, but there is nothing better than getting a handwritten letter or card in the mail! the only thing that is better than a paper card is one that is letterpressed. swoon! enter Farewell Paperie – a local Seattle company that is letterpressing the most fun & awesome cards. also, while on the topic, a big BIRTHDAY SHOUT-OUT to my mama (HAPPY BIRTHDAY)! I have a card & present waiting for you here, but let’s just pretend I sent you this card in the mail & it arrived just in time!

{two} eloise hugs.

I have been meaning to include it in the past few weekly updates, but it’s slipped my mind. hard to believe though since it is the best. thing. ever. eloise is now giving awesome hugs (like really solid ones) where she wraps her arms around your neck or shoulders for a moment. it is the sweetest thing & I hope you all get to experience an eloise hug some day soon.

{three} online fabric sources.

TITLE

{via Style by Emily Henderson}

I have been on a complete sewing frenzy & pretty much want to do it all day (when I am not cuddling with eloise, of course). there are lots of things on my to do list (see my Pinterest board here) & I can’t wait to get started! shopping for fabric is slightly difficult since getting out to shop is tricky when you have just a short window of “play” time before eloise goes down for a nap. I like to take my time perusing fabric & really making sure it is exactly what I want (& since I am a terrible decision-maker in that I can never decide anything!) it is always a lengthy process. despite not getting to feel the fabric, I do buy a lot of fabric from etsy. but, Emily Henderson just made my life a lot easier with her newest post this week: the best places to buy fabric online!

{one} misha & puff sale.

{via Misha & Puff shop}

the little shop Misha & Puff is having a big sale, you should check it out if you need any adorable knitted clothes for your kiddos (or grand-kiddos, or nieces or nephews, or friend’s babies!). not only does this store have an AWESOME name, but the clothes are so sweet. I picked up the Sugar Maple Sunsuit for eloise during the last sale (which you can see in her 6 month photos here).

{two} neighborly app.

{via Neighborly App}

I had heard about this app from a fellow new mother & have had it installed for months, but didn’t use it until this week. we have been trying to get rid of a bunch of old paint cans & don’t want to make a (paid) trip to the dump. we also want to make sure they are responsibly disposed of. so, I took a look at the Neighborly app to see what type of services were offered, & lo and behold paint can removal! we will also be having some yard work done in the very, very near future! the app was easy to use, the guy that came was super friendly, & you just pay thru the app – so easy!

{three} wallpaper.

Anthropologie Rose Petals Wallpaper #anthrofave

{via Anthro}

I think that wallpaper (if well designed) can make a great statement in a house. I have been itching to get some up on our walls in our bathroom (in the toilet room to be exact) & have fallen in love with this beautiful floral. it’s chic & sophisticated – swoon! any other wallpaper lovers out there?

{one} madewell at nordstrom.

Brand spotlight: introducing Madewell at Nordstrom.

{via nordstrom}

I am a pretty big fan of madewell – it’s like j.crew’s casually chic cousin. I didn’t realize until recently that we are lucky in seattle to have a few stores in the area, but it is now available at nordstrom! the reason this is exciting is because then you get the madewell goods with the nordstrom perks (great alterations & notes!). I have been wanting to try madewell jeans (since my beloved paige jeans are so stretched out, what gives?!) & I have been hoarding nordstrom notes (which are rewards) – seems like a win-win!

{two} fruity frozen sips (from oh joy!).

Fruity Frozen Sips / Oh Joy

{via Oh Joy blog}

joy cho is the amazing woman behind Oh Joy (blog & brand) & is a genius! (she is also really sweet – I got to meet her, see here!) I love all of the delightful things she comes up with, including these awesome fruity drinks! I can’t wait for summer just for an excuse to have a BBQ & make these!

{three} macaroon rattles.

{via Project Nursery}

in my hunt for ideas for eloise’s first easter basket (since candy is pretty much a no-go) I came across these adorable macaroon rattles! french macaroons are my favorite & eloise is french so it seems like it’s meant to be, right? well, I should have made my mind up faster because now they are sold out… but so cute nonetheless!

{one} honest company kid’s sunglasses.

{via Honest Co}

we have had the most spring-like winter I can remember here in the PNW which only bums me out because I never got to bundle Eloise up like a little Eskimo… But it has made me think that I should probably get this kid some sunglasses, a sun hat, & other sun protection sooner rather than later since I feel a very hot summer coming on. even though it is sort of ridiculous, I ordered Eloise a pair of these sunglasses from Honest Company! babies in sunglasses? yes please!

{two} halogen kayla pointy toe flats.

'Kayla' Pointy Toe Flat

{via Nordstrom}

I would love to prance around in heels all day, every day, but in my new job as a mom it just doesn’t make any sense. I LOVE pointy toed flats because they make my feet look slightly longer (I have the smallest feet!) which I think is important even though I don’t wear anything but skinny jeans. my mom & I found these awesome flats last weekend & I cannot wait to style them for spring.

{three} #worldstoughestjob video.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB3xM93rXbY&w=448&h=252&hd=1]

so this video has been out for a while, but I just discovered it. grab a kleenex before you push play! kudos to ALL of you mamas out there (& dads)!

one of my favorite things about dressing eloise is putting together separates – pants, sweaters, shirts/onesies. I am not big on “outfits” & dress her much like I dress myself. a mini {me} indeed! this special collection by banana republic was just released just for littles – BR Mini –  & I am loving the neutral separates! here are a few of my favorites.

{one} hurraw! balm.

this weekend my friend Karly gifted me a few new lip balms & I am already obsessed! Hurraw uses organic, raw, & vegan ingredients, & the flavors are delightful. the Earl Grey – oh, my downfall is bergamot! thanks Karly!

{two} chuck taylor slip-ons.

Chuck Taylor® 'Shoreline' Sneaker (Women)

{via nordstrom}

I love sneakers for every day wear & have been eyeing a white pair of chuck taylors for a while now. then I discovered these slip-on ones & I knew I had to have them. the magical birthday fairy brought them to my house {thanks husband!} & I love them! plus, when you have kids, tying your shoes is a luxury.

{three} girl scout cookie season.

20150219_044055202_iOS

the other night we were sitting down to dinner & the doorbell rang. unusual for that time of night since we have been eating around 8 these days {after eloise goes to bed}. & much to our surprise it was a girl scout! we thought she was taking orders, but she actually had a wagon full of cookies! two of each please & thank you!

{one} thirsties cloth wipes.

{via Amazon}

we have been using cloth wipes for nearly as long as we have been cloth diapering eloise. {I shared our wipe solution here.} even though cheap washcloths would work just as well, we have been really happy with these thirsties wipes. they are thick & pretty big which means that we almost always need just one wipe – even for really messy diapers! if you are thinking at all of using cloth wipes, definitely consider these!

{two} family portraits.

Oh Joy Family Portrait by Rifle Paper Co.

{via Oh Joy blog}

I adore family portraits & love the idea of having an updated one each year to show the growth of the family – kids, pets, everyone included! I am loving these handpainted portraits by anna bond of rifle paper company.

{three} madewell sculptor cardigan.

{via Madewell}

I have been loving big, cozy sweaters for the winter – love them paired with skinnies – & particularly like cardigans since they are easy to nurse in. I saw this beaut while shopping with my mom last weekend & have been dreaming about it ever since. I didn’t let myself try it on though, in case I decided I couldn’t live without it… {saving my pennies!}.
