{week 10} This past week we were in Indiana visiting Aaron’s family, marking Daphne’s first trip! We didn’t travel this early with Eloise so it was new territory for us (a bit) and I have to agree with most mamas I have talked to that traveling with a newborn is pretty easy (relatively speaking).

Daphne has been such a happy baby recently and has been showing us tons of smiles and giggles. It is the best! She is really engaged in whoever is looking at her and loves to see people’s faces. Often times she can’t hold her paci in her mouth because she is smiling so much!

Tummy time and neck strength is amazing with this one, especially considering I don’t stress a lot of formal tummy time each day. She likes to be upright, particularly after feeding which has made for a strong neck. She also does not like being stationary, sleeping or awake, and prefers that whoever is holding her to be walking around or standing and bouncing her.

I was a little worried about the time change since Daphne definitely has day versus night figured out, but she did so well with the three hour difference between Seattle and Indy. We kept a pretty normal routine with 3 to 3.5 hour feedings and 7 to 8 hours at night. She stretched a few daytime feedings to 4 or even 5 (!) hours which was mostly because she was sleeping so well and I didn’t want to wake her. Generally I don’t like her to go that long between feedings because it throws us off and we end up with one less feeding per day. At night she slept in a rock n play next to our bed (just like at home) and did really well. One night she even slept for 11 hours straight! Guys, I haven’t slept that long in one stretch since before Eloise was born!

It was so great to see family and introduce them to the newest Lower. We were fortunate to be able to see so many of Aaron’s family members, including both of Daphne’s great grandparents. I will be sure to share pictures of the entire trip soon!

Happy 10 weeks Daphne!
