eloise {month one}

{lion: jellycat via nordstrom // top: crewcuts // pants: Baby Gap}

{month one} it’s hard to believe it has been an entire month with eloise! some days it feels like she was just born yesterday & some days it feels like it has been months – just depends on the day I guess. eloise is such a joy & we are so in love with her. she is constantly keeping us on our toes & we are loving {mostly} every minute of it. she squeaks & groans around the clock, & loves to move her arms & legs around, even while she is sleeping. there are lots of smiles these days & attention to who is holding her which makes our obsession at staring at her that much more exciting. I have even noticed what sounds like a giggle or laugh during her nighttime snoozes – it is the best thing I have ever heard! eloise looks a bit like mama & a bit like papa, mostly dependent on what face she is making!

eloise is growing so quickly & gained 14 ounces in just the past week – that is nearly a pound in a week kiddo! she is just starting to get a bit of chub, starting in her cheeks & tummy – it’s the sweetest. eloise can roll from one shoulder to the other, but nothing about her movements is coherent or purposeful. she hates traditional tummy time {face plant} but loves to be held against your chest & push away with her head & arms – she has quite a strong neck! we have started into the spit-up phase which is super fun. nothing like curdled milk all over! amazing that this kid even spits up since she is such a good eater, albeit very, very slow.

with aaron back at work during the day, eloise, sadie, & I hang out at the house on whatever schedule eloise sets. there is some consistency in her morning wake times {between 7 and 9} and bedtime {between 9 and 11} but everything in the middle is up in the air. once she  goes down for her first morning nap, I typically can figure out how the rest of the day is going to be {usually her feeding cycles are consistent thru-out an entire day, though vary from day to day}. we are working on getting out of the house at least once a day which is good for us all, even if it means a short walk around the block. we also have been enjoying visitors who catch us up on what’s going on in the real world – thanks to everyone who has stopped by to say hello & especially if you have come with dinner!

{weight} 9 lbs 15 oz
{hair} dark brown. e is sporting a bit of a faux hawk these days as the hair on the top of her head is much longer than the rest.
{teeth} none.
{eyes} dark grey with a hint of brown.
{clothes} newborn {but not the tiny 5 to 7 lb size}, some smaller 0 to 3 month {like baby Gap}, & size 3 in Carter’s {mostly bottoms, not tops}.
{diapers} wore size newborn until late last week & now wearing size 1 {both from the honest company}. gearing up to start with cloth as soon as eloise is big enough {& we buy a few more diapers!}.
{feeding} this little lady loves to eat! nursing during the day with a feeding schedule of 2.5 to 3 hours & takes just over an hour to feed. nursing at night {starting week 2} on a 4 to 6 hour schedule. I haven’t started pumping yet, but plan on starting in the coming weeks just as soon as we figure out a few on-going issues with eloise’s latch {I won’t give too many details, but ouch!}.
{likes} her hands, faces, quilt from amanda, mobile, head & face rubs, stretching, {attempting to} suck on her thumb, being held while napping, eating/nursing.
{dislikes} sponge baths, loud noises, car rides when the car stops moving, having gas, being naked.

{nicknames} E, Bug, Kiddo, Squeaks.

a few lot more photos to share {since we are obsessed with photographing this kid!}. some of these I have shared on instagram which is my go-to for photo sharing these days.

happy one month eloise!

  1. This pic is adorable! Hard to believe she is one month already starting on 2 months. But I can tell she is growing and plumping up. Those long skinny feet are too cute! Give her a kiss from Nana and Papaw!
